One of the best parts about being an event planner in Manhattan is all the different religions and cultures we get to experience and learn about through our couples. Since the day we met Eric and Elise, we knew this Manhattan wedding would be something special. Eric and Elise tied the knot on Labor Day Weekend, with an exquisite backdrop of towering skyscrapers and lush greenery, their special day was a vibrant blend of cultures, aesthetics, and heartfelt emotions. Eric was born in China and much of the family still spoke mostly Mandarin, while Elise grew up in the Midwest. Getting to blend these cultures together lead us to a magical night!
The couple chose 620 Loft and Garden as their stunning venue, nestled in the heart of the city, where nature meets urban elegance. Imagine a sun-drenched afternoon, and a gentle breeze that carried excitement for the day ahead. The ceremony area was adorned with delicate blush-colored flowers—roses, peonies, and ranunculus—that perfectly complemented the natural beauty surrounding them. Flowers by Brian created a gorgeous garden oasis in the midst of the concrete jungle. Adding a touch of whimsy to the decor were enchanting blush colored ceiling lanterns, suspended from the tent casting a warm, inviting glow. While vendors were hard at work at the venue, just a block over the couple was getting ready in their suites for their first look. TL Brides worked their magic on the already stunning Elise, and her girls helped her get dressed to meet her groom. Eric was anxiously waiting their first look and Leandra Creative Co captured the emotions of this moment so perfectly. Leandra and her team followed the couple all day, capturing all the intimate details through the end of the night. Once the couple arrived at the venue, everything was coming together for a perfect evening. Guests arrived to the gorgeous tunes of Stephanie Babirak on the harp, and Elise was escorted down the aisle by her father to the stage we built over the pool by Gala Productions. The couple was elevated above the city floating on the euphoria of their love as the brides brother pronounced them as husband and wife. We were able to skillfully incorporate both English and Mandarin into the ceremony, with the help of Cedric Mun, a nod to the couple’s heritage and a reminder of the love that transcends language.
This wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love; it was a beautiful melding of two rich cultures. The groom, representing his Chinese heritage, honored traditions by incorporating elements such as a tea ceremony, which beautifully emphasized respect and gratitude. Family members watched with pride as the couple shared this intimate moment, pouring tea for each other and their loved ones—a ritual that beautifully bridged the gap between their backgrounds. During cocktail hour, guests were invited to find their seats with a wall of red Chinese printed envelopes, creatively designed by Loft Studio Design. Guests were then invited to the dinner space, which Bartleby and Sage Catering flipped from the ceremony space to a gorgeous tablescape by Flowers by Brian, and table settings by Smith Party Rentals and BBJ La Tavola Rentals. Guests were treated to a lovely blend of foods from both backgrounds, with the added detail of custom chopsticks. Throughout dinner, Eric and Elise had speeches from both of their parents which was a beautiful testament to families coming together. Once dinner was wrapping up, guests were invited inside where DJ Tim Martell was already lighting up the dancefloor! Elise’s mom and aunts surprised her with a little dance, which got everyone in the dancing spirit. The rest of the evening was a party – complete with Future Flicks Photobooth, games led by Cedric Mun, a champagne tower, and lots of cake!
The wedding of Eric and Elise was more than just an event; it was a celebration of unity, respect, and love that transcends borders. This enchanting day, filled with blush flowers, glowing lanterns, and heartfelt traditions, beautifully illustrated how love can unite people from different cultures, creating a tapestry of shared experiences and cherished memories. As they embarked on their journey as a married couple, they carried with them the love and support of both families, forever bound by the magic of that beautiful day. We are forever grateful to have been a part of bringing this day to life, all our best to the newlyweds!
